Kilkenny Success in Colleges Championships

Kilkenny Handballers recorded more success in the second and third level championships which took place at various venues in Tipperary/Waterford/ Wexford venues.
In the second level 60 x 30 championships at Clonmel, Jack Holden rounded off a great year for the Kilfane club when, representing his school Grennan College, Thomastown he defeated Gareth Delaney (Roscommon) 15-4, 15-6 in the Boys Junior final, while in the Boys Intermediate grade, Shane Dunne, Castlecome CS, first had a hard fought 15-7,11-15,15-6 win over Tipperary's Jerome Cahill in the semi final, and then in the decider he came out on top in another tough three set match against Diarmuid Mulkerrins (St.Mary's,Galway), 15-11, 13-15, 15-8.
Other Kilkenny players in action in these championships were ; Sean Carey/ Dion Bourke (St. Kierans College, lost Senior Doubles S/F to Limerick,Catriona Lawlor/Aileen Hennessy (Caslecomer CS), lost Girls Senior Doubles final to Limerick, Edel Mulholland (Presentation SS) lost Girls Junior Singles S/F to Limerick, Aoife Holden (Grennan College) lost Girls Senior Singles final to Roscommon,and Kyle Dunne and Billy O'Neill (Castlecomer SS) went down to Tyrone in Boys Junior Doubles final.

In the third level 40 x 20 Doubles championships played in Wexford, Peter Funchion and Shane Hedigan, representing Tralee Institute of Technology defeated Martin Mulkerrins and Galen O'Riordan from UCD in the final.
