Leinster Cumann na mBunscoile finals in Coolboy, Wicklow

Kilkenny were represented in every grade in boys and girls in Leinster Cumann na mBunscoile finals recently. In GU11S Edel Mulholland won her semi final but was narrowly beaten by Kildare in the final after taking the first game of the final but lost out on scoring average. GU11D Rebecca de Roiste and Saoirse Ni Mhaonaigh got off to a slow start in the first game but performed well in the second game and were unfortunate to be beaten by Wexford in the semi final. GU13S Dearbhail O Keeffe was unfortunate to loose the semi final against Kildare after displaying some great handball. GU13S Jessica Dunphy and Michelle O Connor gave a great performance but were beaten in semi final by Kildare. In BU11S Jack Holden won all his matches convincingly and displayed some great handball shots and skills on way to and in final where he met and beat Wexford. In U11D Kyle Dunne and Thomas Brennan beat Kildare in the semi final but were unfortunate to come up against a strong Wexford pair in the Final and were beaten in two games both lads tried and gave their best .In U13S Ciaran Cooney beat Wicklow and Wexford on his way to the final where he met Kildare, The first game was even enough with Ciaran taking the first game but the second game Ciaran won convincinly. In U13D Aidan Barry and Eoin Regan beat Wexford and Meath on their way to the final where they met Longford. The Kilkenny boys were too strong for the Longford pair winning in two straight games. Well done to all the girls and boys for representing their school, club and county with pride. A big thank you to Brigid Burke for her help in organising and helping keep the games going on the day and also thank you to the parents from Kilkenny who refereed matches.

Jack,Ciaran, Aidan and Eoin now go on to represent Leinster in National Handball Day in Kingscourt, Cavan on Saturday 28 April.
