Juveniles Claim Titles

In the All Ireland 60 x 30 Juvenile finals played at Kinsgcourt, Cavan and Loughmacrory on Sunday, Kilkenny were involved in five contests, bringing home two gold medals. The successful Kilkenny players were Windgap duo, Jack Doyle and Padraig Foley in Boys U14 Doubles and Clogh pair, Aidan and Cathal Barry I Boys U17 Doubles.

In the Boys U14 Doubles final, Jack Doyle and Padraig Foley have had a very impressive 60 x 30 season, and on Sunday the Windgap pair finished in style with a comprehensive 15-3, 15-3 win over Galway to claim their first National title.

Also successful in the All Ireland finals were Clogh brothers, Aidan and Cathal Barry who added the Boys U17 Doubles 60 x 30 title to the 40 x 20 crown that they won earlier in the year. In their final against Galway, the Clogh boys won the first set, 21-8, lost the second game 8-21, and in the tie break, they sealed victory with a 11-2 win.

In the three other finals that Kilkenny contested, defeat was the order of the day in three girls finals. In Girls U14 Singles, Roisin O’Keeffe (Kilfane) was defeated 15-3,7-15,15-12 to Tyrone, the Mothel/Galmoy duo of Noelle Dowling and Kellyanne Ryan were beaten by Tipperary, 11-15, 15-5, 15-7. To complete a disappointing day for the girls, Dearbhail O’Keeffe (Kilfane) lost out in the Girls U16 Singles when she was beaten by Galway, 21-9, 21-6
