Handballers star in All Ireland Hurling Finals

posted 14 Sep 2014, 00:36 by ger doyle
The two Kilkenny stars of the 2014 All Ireland Hurling Finals are also very successful All Ireland winning handballers. In the Minor final, John Walsh from Mullinavat gave a wonderful display, and no doubt his handball career helped him hone his skills. John has numerous Leinster Handball titles and is an All Ireland Handball champion in the U16 grade.
In the Senior decider, Richie Hogan was voted Man of the match and what a display he put on. Regularly, you would see Richie use his handball skills to lay off a hand pass to a team mate, a skill he has perfected from his handball days. In a star studded juvenile career, Richie played with the Kilfane club, and was a special talent. Along with winning Leinster titles in almost all grades, he also won U16 and Minor All Ireland titles and was a World Singles champion in the 15 and Under grade.
Well done again to both the lads and best of luck to Richie in the replay.
