GAA Handball Ireland would like to announce the commencement of a specialized Coaching Clinic entitled ‘Developing the Athlete’.

The clinic will be based on physical conditioning, and provide an in depth knowledge and ideas on how to improve their fitness levels and conditioning in relation to Handball. The Junior Development Squad to be announced after the Junior Nationals (12th/13th November) will be participating the practical elements of the clinic as part of their first development camp. The clinic will be open for viewing to whoever wishes to attend and is free of charge.

The clinic will take place in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin, on Saturday 19th November 2011 at 11am, and will provide all attendees with a taste of the venue of the 2012 World Handball Championships (Thursday 11th October - Sunday 21st October 2012). On the day, our current, and 3 times Men’s and Ladies Open World Handball Champions Paul Brady, and Fiona Shannon, will be present on the day to provide a talk on the importance of physical conditioning and how it has played an imperative role in their continued success. The clinic will be both theory and practical to accommodate all levels of learning, and aim for coaches to leave with ideas and information to bring back to their clubs and incorporate it into their training to benefit players for forthcoming World Championships. Sessions will be lead by top sporting practitioners Paddy Tally and Ricky McCann. All coaches will be provided with the literature of the clinic sessions at the end of the clinic.
