All Ireland Semi Final Results

At adult level, there were a number of Kilkenny pairs contesting All Ireland Doubles semi- finals against Munster opposition. On Saturday in Liscarrol, Cork, Ciarán Neary (Talbots Inch) and Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Shane Hedigan and Donnacha O’Dea, 21-14, 21-9 to progress to the final where they will play Tyrone.

On Sunday there were three overage matches in Clogh, all involving Kilkenny players. The first tie of the afternoon was in Masters A Doubles where Duxie Walsh and DJ Carey defeated David Moloney and Martin McInerney (Tipperary) in two sets, 21-10,21-18. In the second match on the programme, Joe Anthony (Mullinavat) and Gerry Murphy (Goresbridge) were comfortable 21-5,21-8 winners over Limerick’s John Joe Fahy and Pat Hennebry in Diamond Masters B Doubles, and to complete a good afternoon for Kilkenny, Johnny Brennan (Mothel) and Joe Hennessy (O’Loughlins) had a hard fought three set victory over Limerick’s Tommy O’Brien and Donal O’Connor, 21-5,17-21,21-9 in the Emerald Masters A Doubles championship semi-final.


Kilkenny suffered two defeats at the weekend in Over 35 B Doubles and Ladies Minor Doubles. In the Over 35 B Doubles, John Morrissey (O’Loughlins) and Noel Doherty (Galmoy) lost out to a very strong Tipperary pair, Kevin Dempsey and Paul Mullins, while in Ladies Minor Doubles, Aoife Holden and Ailish O’Shea were well beaten by Clare’s Doireann Murphy and Clodagh Nash, 21-4, 21-12.
