Abbeylara Not a Happy Hunting Ground

posted 26 Sep 2015, 09:25 by Martin Lalor
Abbeylara did not prove a happy hunting ground for Kilkenny Ducksie Walsh and Ciara Mahon as they both exited their respective All Ireland Senior championships at the semi finals stages. Ducksie was attempting to reach another Senior decider and add to his collection of 38 titles. However, this semi final was a step too far for the Talbots Inch legend as he lost in two sets to Eoin Kennedy (Dublin). In the first set Kennedy allowed Ducksie only 4 aces, but things were different in the second game as Ducksie put the pressure on to push the defending champion all the way in a 21-17 defeat.
In the Ladies semi final Ciara Mahon (Clogh) had a tough match with Martina McMahon of Limerick. Playing in her first Senior semi final the young North Kilkenny player put up a very good performance, and caused her more experienced opponent plenty of problems. In two well contested sets, the Limerick player advanced to the final when winning 21-10, 21-11.
